June's meeting was hosted by self confessed craftivist and upcycler, Grace Moore. Inspired by her mothers passion for patch work, Graces enthusiasm had no bounds for creating a huge variety of decorative items for her home, her family and to sell.
As an easy introduction into the world of patch work, Grace talked us through the principals of crazy patchwork. Just starting with a pentagon shape, we just needed to let go of our inhibitions go and keep sewing strips onto edges whatever which way they go! Everyone went home with a completely unique piece which can now be transformed into whatever we choose! Thank you Grace for a fabulous evening.

A big thanks to Emma for a fantastic evening of creative crafting.
We all pitched in to make our very own Ellingham and Kirby Cane WI themed bunting. Emma took us through template making and the fabric cutting process and everyone had a go at sewing up the triangles and pressing them ready to create the bunting. Member, Sophie then had the job of sewing all the triangles to the tape. Look out for the final result at the next meeting or our next public event. 22nd January 2013
Our own WI member, Sophie hosted an evening of name badge making for our members to wear at every meeting. With their craft kits at the ready, members were shown a selection of felt or fabric and paper made badges and were asked to come up with something in their own style or theme. Like kids in a sweet shop, the members were treated to a selection of materials to choose from, (donated by members and The Needlecraft Shop in Beccles). Some beautiful badges were made - we look forward to sharing them at the next meeting. 25th September 2013
Our first event meeting was hosted by our very own WI member Tracy, teaching us all how to make paper beads. Starting with a few basic supplies (paper, pva glue and a matchstick) she took us through the simple rolling technique to make our beads. Using different colours, patterned and width papers resulted in a varied selection of beads. After essential glue drying time (half time tea and cake!) we were given leather cord and a clasp to create a piece of jewellery to take home. A very enjoyable craft evening with a keepsake to take home. Thank you Tracy! |
